Forever Is a Mighty Long Time

From today’s reading…

“I have made a covenant with my chosen one,

I have sworn to David my servant:

Forever will I confirm your posterity

and establish your throne for all generations.”

Today we first read from 2 Samuel 7 how God relayed His message to David through Nathan that David would receive “rest from all your enemies” and “your throne shall stand firm forever.”

Then, to drive home the point, we see the word “forever” used four times in just six verses in Psalms 89.

That’s a lot of forevers, which, as Prince and the Revolution told us in 1984,

Forever is a mighty long time,

But I’m here to tell you, there’s something else…

The afterworld.

A world of never-ending happiness

You can always see the sun, day or night.”

Prince was right, as was Nathan, David, the Psalmists, Zecharaiah, Luke, and, of course, God.

Forever is a mighty long time and God wants you to spend it in eternity with Him, which is the definition of never-ending happiness, which is why God wants you and me to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
