In just four verses from Hebrews chapter 12 Paul lists

1. burden

2. persevere

3. running the race

4. endured

5. endured (again)

6. may not grow weary

7. struggle

8. resisted. 

Along with these eight variations of “sticking it out,” he also mentions

1. so great a cloud of witnesses

2. leader

3. perfecter of faith

4. joy

5. taken his seat at the right of the throne of God.

We are not called to suffer and endure for the sake of suffering and endurance.

We are called to greatness, which requires effort “while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus,” which is the only way to…
