Embrace Her, Not Her

From today’s reading…

I heard you in the garden;

but I was afraid, because I was naked,

so I hid myself.”

Shame is tough. Shame is debilitating. Shame is a lie. Shame makes you lie. Shame makes the beautiful ugly. Shame turns right into wrong. Shame makes you afraid. Shame is used as a weapon by the evil one. Shame is used as leverage by manipulators. Shame makes you do things that create more shame. Shame can take the joy out of life. Shame can take your life.

But there is a path away from shame.

“Behold, your mother,” is the instruction Jesus gave to John from the cross.

Just as Eve “became the mother of all the living,” so did Mary.

But Eve was the channel used by the Devil to bring sin and shame into the world, while Mary was the channel used by God to bring the cure to sin and shame.

Embrace the Mother of God to help you…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
