Early, Lonely Prayer

From today’s reading…

In the morning, long before dawn, he got up and left the house and went off to a lonely place and prayed there.” Mark 1:35

We’re still in the opening of Mark and he tells us this story about the morning routine of Jesus.

He got up early and went about doing the Lord’s work, which required silence and solitude.

It necessitated a reprieve from the chaos and the cacophony of everyday life.

It called for prayer.

If we buy the same shoes LeBron wears to improve our basketball play and we drink the same green shakes as Tiger to improve our golf game, shouldn’t we also do as Jesus does and spend more time alone with God in prayer?

It’s the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.

P.S. That’s my actual sunset tonight. I spent a few minutes enjoying it and seeing God in its beauty…then I called my daughters out to enjoy it with me.
