Dry The Cries of Distress

From today’s reading…

Now, the vineyard of Yahweh Sabaoth is the House of Israel, and the people of Judah the plant he cherished.

He expected fair judgement, but found injustice, uprightness, but found cries of distress.” Isaiah 5:7

Lots of talk of grapes and vineyards and killing and retribution today. Psalm 80 reinforces what we read in Isaiah today as does Jesus’ parable in Matthew 21.

God gives abundantly but He expects you and me to be good stewards of what He gives us. We own nothing, not even our lives. We are frail, weak creatures, which is why God gives us protection, but in our arrogance and ignorance, we turn from that protection and guidance. Heck, we go even farther and kill those sent to serve and guide us to even greater abundance.

You’re on the wrong path with the wrong attitude and the wrong goal. You hoard instead of share. You pluck instead of plant. You seize instead of serve. You reject instead of respect.

Respect the rejected stone. See how firmly it has been laid upon solid ground. Build from there because it’s the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
