Do Not Cling To Me
From today’s reading…
Jesus said to her, ‘Do not cling to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to the brothers, and tell them: I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” John 20:17
Who sees Jesus first?
A woman.
A woman whose life He made worth living by freeing her from her demons.
Yet she did not recognize Him at first, and when she did, she grasped at Him like a drowning victim lunging for their rescue swimmer.
Speaking of rescue swimmers, the first thing they teach you in rescue swimming is how to escape from the victim.
You read that right.
They teach you how to escape from the clutches of the fearful, frantic, and frenetic because they will kill you both if you allow them to give in to their impulses.
Jesus knows what Mary is feeling and gives her clear instructions on what to do next, which is the same thing you do to a drowning victim, so both of you can live and thrive.
It was not time for her to cling to Him.
It was time for her to rally the troops.
Being one of the first and strongest believers in Jesus, she did as He instructed her to do.
Be like Mary.
Trust and believe that everything happens according to God’s plan, on His own time, and by His own means, which is the only way to…
Stay the course.Keep the faith.Endure.
