Discipline: Do Not Disdain

My son, do not disdain the discipline of the Lord
or lose heart when reproved by him;
for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines;
he scourges every son he acknowledges.”
People love to hate Nick Saban and his Alabama football team as well as Bill Belichick and the Patriots football team because they are so dominant in the respective leagues.
But great football players don’t mind playing for dominant teams.
In fact, the greats want to play for winners and winners win because of their discipline and attention to detail.
Saban and Belichick are hard-chargers.
They work their players hard.
They work their coaches hard.
They have high expectations and they do not tolerate any deviations from their plans.
They are strict disciplinarians and their reward for getting results is both respect and ridicule.
But those coaches have at least something in common with God in that they only discipline those they want to see live up to their potential, and reaching your full potential is the only way to…
