Discipline Determines Destiny

From today’s reading…

All this you were allowed to see

that you might know the LORD is God and there is no other.

Out of the heavens he let you hear his voice to discipline you;”

Moses is repeating the law in Deuteronomy today, which is appropriate since the name of the book comes from the word deuteronomion, or “copy of the law,” as found in the Septuagint.

He reminds us that God makes Himself known to us so we may know that we are not alone. That we are chosen. That He has great plans for us. Great things in store for us. But we must choose to listen and follow His guidance or face His discipline.

If you have children you know that you only discipline those you love. If I do not know you I will not take the time and energy to correct you.

So accept the law, the love, and the discipline of God because you need all of them to…
