Disaster Comes To The Rebellious

From today’s reading…

Disaster to the rebellious, the befouled, the tyrannical city! She has not listened to the call, she has not bowed to correction, she has not trusted in Yahweh, she has not drawn near to her God.” Zephaniah 3:1-2

Have you ever seen a child throw a fit when you try to help them with something that is simple to you but hard for them, like an infant trying to put blocks of various shapes and sizes into the right holes?

In a way, it’s a good thing. We need to raise strong, independent children who become responsible adults who can think for themselves and stay at a difficult task until it is completed.

However, we can—and often do—take a good thing too far. Sometimes the best course of action is inaction.

Sometimes we are all better off if we seek—and heed—wiser counsel. Sometimes it’s best to allow ourselves to be taught by someone who has been there, done that, and gotten the t-shirt and the scars so we don’t have to suffer as they did.

That’s what God is trying to do for us.

He is calling us. He is correcting us. He wants us to draw near and trust in Him because it’s the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
