Cheer For The Jubilee Year

From today’s reading…

The LORD said to Moses on Mount Sinai,…

‘Do not deal unfairly, then; but stand in fear of your God.

I, the LORD, am your God.’”

In Leviticus 25 today we read about the concept of the jubilee year, which was to be held every 50 years. 

It is set aside as a time for the poor to be allowed to return to their own lands and be reunited with their people and their heritage.

They are to be dealt with fairly because we are stewards of the land God gives us so we are not to oppress those with less than us.
