But With You Is Forgiveness
From today’s reading…
[Song of Ascents] From the depths I call to you, Yahweh: Lord, hear my cry. Listen attentively to the sound of my pleading! If you kept a record of our sins, Lord, who could stand their ground? But with you is forgiveness, that you may be revered.” Psalm 130:1-4
For 20 years, I’ve carried a pocket knife.
For ten years, I’ve carried a licensed concealed firearm.
For five years, I’ve trained Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 5-6 days a week.
This combination of tools and training means I can subdue, hurt, or kill 99.9% of people I meet on a typical day.
Yet in all that time, I only had to subdue one person, albeit twice in the same night, when he had too much to drink at a friend’s 4th of July party last year and decided to hop the fence once and kick in the door another time.
But I digress.
The reason I share this is to give you some perspective.
We are an ignorant, pampered society wholly reliant upon the good faith efforts and restraint of a small percentage of smart, powerful, dangerous, diligent, conscientious, capable men to keep the lights on, the water running, food on the shelves, and the wolves away from your door.
If men like this can disrupt your livelihood and your life with the flip of a switch (or the flip of their wrists), how much more so can God?
If you woke up this morning and had water and power in your home, food in the fridge, and could access the internet to goof off for a few hours, thank the men who made it possible.
If you woke up alive, thank God, then ask Him to give you one more hour to seek His forgiveness and get your act together, which is the only way to…
Stay the course.Keep the faith.Endure.
Now go sell something.
