Bulls and Goats Are Insufficient

From today’s reading…

But in those sacrifices there is only a yearly remembrance of sins,

for it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats

take away sins.”

The price of sin is death. But the death of some livestock or crops is insufficient to repair the damage we have done with our sins.

As a loving Father, God knew this.

As a loving Father who wants His children with Him, God made the only perfect sacrifice He could. His own Son, which is also Himself.

No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13

Is it any surprise that the Creator of love Himself provides the greatest example of love?

When Jesus accepted His passion He said

Behold, I come to do your will, O God.”

You and I “have been consecrated through the offering of the Body of Jesus Christ once and for all.”
