Bow Low and Do Reverence

From today’s reading…

Come, let us cry out with joy to Yahweh, acclaim the rock of our salvation. Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving, acclaim him with music. Come, let us bow low and do reverence; kneel before Yahweh who made us!” Psalm 95:1-2,6

If your best friend called and said, “I was having Tom Brady over for dinner, but we have a leak in our roof. Can I bring all the food over and cook at your house, and you can join us?” what would you say?

What would you do?

How would you act?

Even if you’re not a Brady fan, you’d be excited.

Probably a little nervous.

You’d scream at your family to “GET YOUR CRAP OUT OF THE LIVING ROOM AND CLEAN UP THIS HOUSE AND DO NOT EMBARRASS ME!! TOM BRADY IS COMING FOR DINNER!”

You’d vacuum, dust, put away all the dishes, pull the weeds from your flowerbed, blow the driveway, send the dog to the neighbor, shower, and get over-dressed.

During dinner, you’d be gushing, fawning, gawking, staring, and rambling, if not hyperventilating, sweating, and drinking wine like it’s a contest. All for a dude who plays a kid’s game.

Why can’t you do that for God? God doesn’t mind you admiring the athletes and movie stars and musicians He has created.

He just doesn’t want you worshipping them.

Save your worship for God, which is the only way to…

Stay the course.Keep the faith.Endure.

Now go sell something.
