Be Zealous, Not Comfortable

From today’s reading…

He replied, ‘I have been most zealous for the LORD,

the God of hosts.

But the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant,

torn down your altars,

and put your prophets to the sword.

I alone am left, and they seek to take my life.’” 1 Kings 19:14

Elijah doesn’t mix words with God on Mt Horeb. It can be a lonely, frightening path to walk among those who are comfortable.

But we are not called to be comfortable nor to bring comfort to the comfortable. We are called to spread the Good News, which can be bad news to those who are stubborn and set in their ways.

God made Elijah’s words and efforts fruitful and He will do the same with you if you’ll only…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
