Be Humble and Contrite

From today’s reading…

My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit;

a heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.” Psalm 51:19

As the father of seven ranging in age from 21 to 5, I can tell you I don’t want, need, or expect any gifts from my children on birthdays, Father’s Day, Christmas, etc.

But I do want, need, and expect them to conduct themselves with honor and integrity, to be a credit to society and to our family name.

If this is all my frail, weak, sinful self wants from his children, is it any wonder this is all God wants from us?

While it’s fun, exciting, interesting, and rewarding to dig a well in Nigeria, bring school supplies to Nicaragua, and deliver Bibles to churches in China, all God wants from you is to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
