Be Confident In The Spirit’s Ability To Save You

From today’s reading…

We are led by the Spirit to wait in the confident hope of saving justice through faith,…” Galatians 5:5

In both Galatians 5 and Luke 11 today, we are reminded that the Spirit of the Lord is more important than the letter of the old school law. Paul hammers this point to the Galatians again and Jesus calls the Pharisees “filled with extortion and wickedness” (Luke 11:39) because they follow the letter of the law to the “T” only to appear to be holy, pious, and righteous.

Yet, also today, we read from Psalms 119 how good and freeing it is to “keep you Law without fail for ever and ever.” (verse 44)

What Psalms 119 goes on to extol are the virtues of following the “precepts” and the “commandments” of the Lord, which include the newest two commandments given to us by Jesus. Since He is love, is it any wonder He gave us commandments centered on love? So focus on keeping the loving commandments to grow in love and you’ll surely be able to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
