Are You Wrong For Doing What’s Right?

From today’s reading…

…in observance of the law a Pharisee, in zeal I persecuted the Church, in righteousness based on the law I was blameless.”

Saul was right in his actions—killing people who had a different faith than him.

He was right according to the law of his faith, which was not the law of the land but was allowed by the authorities to keep the peace. (“Yeah, sure, kill whomever breaks your religion. Just don’t get all crazy and interfere with the government.”)

Saul was wrong in his actions—killing people who had a different faith than him.

There is an objective, absolute, right and wrong.

You know it in your gut.

You feel it in your soul.

You’re told it by your conscience at 2:18 in the morning when you’re alone, in the dark, in the quiet.

But it took the hand and literal voice of God to help Saul see—by losing his sight—the path to Paul, which was right.

Knowing and following right from wrong is the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
