Are you a barren bush in the desert?

From today’s reading…

Cursed is the one who trusts in human beings,

who seeks his strength in flesh,

whose heart turns away from the LORD.

He is like a barren bush in the desert

that enjoys no change of season,

but stands in a lava waste,

a salt and empty earth.”

Watch the fans go crazy in the stands and online during the NBA All-Star slam dunk contest and game.

Ditto for the Super Bowl, The Grammys, March Madness, and any press conference by any President or spokesperson, by any member of Congress or the Senate, or any talking head in the media.

Don’t even get me started on the insanity surrounding American Idol auditions, The Bachelor, or any other so-called reality TV show.

Society is all too ready to set aside all duties, responsibilities, and common sense to engage in and/or with their favorite politician, athlete, or celebrity to the point of attacking one another in the stands, on the streets, and online.

Too many seem to only find their identity and value in life via the win/loss record of their hometown singer, high school football team, or the county dog catcher to whose campaign they contributed.

Or worse, they only find value in bashing any and all who oppose any of their chosen people.

Too many do this because they do not realize they have already been chosen.

You were chosen at birth.

Heck, you were chosen BEFORE birth…

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

before you were born I dedicated you,

a prophet to the nations I appointed you.”

Place your trust where it belongs, in the Lord, and watch how easy it is to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
