In those days, in that time, I will raise up for David a just shoot; he shall do what is right and just in the land.”
David was an adulterer and a murderer—among other things—but God made a promise to him.
He promised Abraham that his descendants would be more numerous than grains of sand.
He promised Noah that he’d never flood the earth again.
He promised Moses deliverance for his people.
And he promised David that, despite his shortcomings, great things would come from his lineage.
